Recently on a trip to the mall, I watched a car circling the parking lot looking for a space closer to the door. We all do it. However, our quest for convenience has a negative affect on our heart health.
Patients tell me frequently that they just don’t have time to exercise. But research shows that as little as ten extra minutes of consistent exercise—three times a day—is all you need to improve your cardiovascular health. It could be skipping the elevator in favor of the stairs, taking a quick bike ride, or even walking briskly across a parking lot.
So maybe next time you’re at a store, save time, save gas, and improve your heart health—park on the far side of the lot.
