YAKIMA—The Yakima Heart Center (YHC) welcomes two new cardiologists to their independent cardiology practice; Bharat Keshavaprasad, MD, and Ranae M. Ratkovec, MD.
Dr. Keshavaprasad went to medical school in Bangalore, India and studied specialized cardiac medicine at some of the top medical institutions in the United States. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Connecticut, Farmington, CT, in 2008. He went on to complete a cardiology fellowship at State University of New York, in Syracuse, NY. In 2011, he completed another fellowship in interventional cardiology at the Western Campus of Tufts University, Baystate Medical Center, in Springfield, MA. Interventional cardiology includes minimally invasive, catheter-‐based treatment of heart disease, such as angioplasty. Dr. Keshavaprasad understands his name can be hard to pronounce and often goes by the name Dr. BK. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Echocardiography.
Dr. Ranae M. Ratkovec comes to the Heart Center with more than 20 years experience in cardiac medicine. She completed medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, in Omaha, Nebraska and went on to complete a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin. She then completed
a fellowship in cardiology and cardiac transplantation at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dr. Ratkovec has resided in the Pacific Northwest for over 20 years—in the Portland area. She has expertise in
Cardiac Catheterization, Echocardiology, and Nuclear Cardiology. Dr. Ratkovec is board certified in Internal Medicine
and Cardiovascular Disease.
The Yakima Heart Center, with support from Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, recruits qualified physicians to meet the needs of our patients. Dr. Keshavaprasad and Dr. Ratkovec are two such physicians who will bring tremendous expertise in cardiovascular care to the community.
Both physicians are now accepting new patients at the Yakima Heart Center and will provide services at both Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital and Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center.
