Vascular Imaging

U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services

In 2004 the Yakima Heart Center founded the Central Washington Vascular Institute to meet our community's need for high quality non-invasive vascular imaging services. The integration of the lab within a center devoted to the prevention, diagnosis and management of cardiovascular diseases provides a unique environment for delivering the highest quality vascular care in the Yakima Valley.

We have been accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL) since 2010. ICAVL accreditation is recognized as certification that the Vascular Laboratory meets established standards of quality in vascular testing. We are accredited in extracranial cerebrovascular, venous, peripheral arterial and visceral vascular testing. Vascular testing at CWVI is performed by trained and credentialed vascular technologists. All vascular technologists are credentialed through the American Registry of Diagnostic Sonography.

We offer many types of testing services using ultrasound imaging, Doppler flow evaluation and physiologic testing. Each patient is individually evaluated with the specific type of exam that best answers the ordering physician’s question.

Advantages of Ultrasound
Non-invasive
Safe
Cost-effective
Provides objective and reliable information
Provides physicians with valuable information for treatment

When Vascular Ultrasound is performed
Initial diagnostic evaluation of vascular disease
Follow up to assess disease progression
To track response to therapies (surgery, stent or other intervention)
Minimally invasive approaches for the treatment of certain types of vascular problems, including treatment of pseudoaneurysms
